Hey there! Welcome to In The Making, where I tell you guys about my current projects, goals, and aspirations.

To get right into the nitty gritty, over 2024 I compiled an absolutely massive list of books I wanted to read throughout the year. And it is with great shame that I admit, I hardly made a dent in the list of 70+ books... Understandably, graduating high school was a daunting transition, and starting my EMT certification was a really big leap which left me with very little free time last year.

Upon starting The Adulting Journals, a nagging idea has been sitting in the back of my mind, but I knew that if I thought it over before launching the blog I was just going to be looking at a new excuse to postpone putting my content out there. I was debating whether I should either do an insane reading challenge for the year, or maybe start a book review page on the blog. However, considering I’m currently looking for work, studying for my National Registry Exam, and intending on applying for the Paramedic program this summer, I think it would be irresponsible academically to add more to my workload with a crazy tough reading challenge. I also don’t want to take the enjoyment out of the activity by writing reviews of each new book I read.

Another idea I have churning through my head is a blog category dedicated to book recommendations based on what I’ve read in the past and what I am currently reading. I want to be able to introduce my readers to a vast range of authors and genres, as well as hold myself accountable for actually reading the many books I’ve collected, and fitting my reading into my daily routine.

I mostly stock my bookshelf with classics, memoirs, music history, nonfiction, and the occasional middle grade fiction throwback. I’m still uncertain as to whether I would be willing to branch out into fantasy or YA novels, as I’d really like to focus on catching up with classics that have been lingering on my list for a while now, but I guess we’ll see what happens!

If you’re interested in Alexandra Reads becoming a category in my blog, please subscribe to my newsletter at the bottom of my Home page for updates, and I’ll make it happen! And as always, thanks for visiting!

Let’s get reading,

Alexandra
